INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CHILD RIGHTS
International development involves working closely with governments and local communities and listening to the voices of people with lived experience to ensure positive outcomes and long-term sustainability. Child rights includes the right to protection, to education, to health, to a family environment and for a child to share their views on matters which affect them. I assist organisations in designing and implementing impactful development projects which meet the needs of local communities.
FAMILY SUPPORT, ALTERNATIVE CARE AND CARE REFORM
International child rights instruments draw on eighty years of evidence to show that children rights, development and welfare are best acheived in a family environment. They specifically call for harmful residential care to be phased out and replaced with family-support and family-based care services. This process is known as care reform. I specialise in supporting organisations and governments through this transition, and help them develop the resources they need to support others in doing the same.
CHILD TRAFFICKING: PREVENTION AND RESPONSE
RESPONSIBLE TOURISM, VOLUNTEERING AND LEARNING
Millions of children and young people are at risk of trafficking and modern day slavery. Are you concerned about the risks of trafficking for children in the communities you work with? Do you want to strengthen the communities you support to prevent child trafficking? Are you designing or running programmes or campaigns related to child trafficking? I support organisations wishing to improve their prevention and response to child trafficking. I have particular expertise in orphanage trafficking, family strengthening, family reintegration and anti-trafficking campaigns.
Responsible tourism providers recognise the importance of child protection and safeguarding in how they work with local communities. This is particularly important in preventing 'orphanage tourism' and ensuring that all forms of community-based tourism are safe and do not put children or families at risk. Do you want to explore options for more responsible engagement with children and communities? Do you need advice on how to safely and practically transition your projects to align with child protection best practice? I support organisations to design and implement responsible tourism projects.
SAFEGUARDING
TRAINING, FACILITATION AND PUBLIC SPEAKING
Do you need help designing a training course, seminar or webinar to ensure it has impact and your participants achieve their learning objectives? Do you need a trainer or facilitator to run a workshop for you, or a speaker for an event? I can help you design and deliver high quality face-to-face and online training materials, courses, workshops and talks. I also run train-the-trainer courses to help people within your organisation to improve their training and presentation skills.
Safeguarding means taking responsibility for your personnel, operations and programmes to ensure they do not harm children or vulnerable adults. Understanding the political and cultural contexts in which safeguarding is being implemented is critical to its success. I support organisations to identify where their safeguarding risks may be, and to develop the policies and procedures necessary to prevent and respond to harm or abuse. I also help organisations to increase safeguarding awareness and understanding amongst their personnel, through training and mentoring.

Do you need support designing an organisational or programme strategy? I support organisations with all areas of programme strategy and management. I specialise in child rights and child protection programmes, but I can provide support in other areas of international development too.
TEAM MANAGEMENT AND ORGANISATIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Do you need advice or support with staff or team management? Do you need help developing and implementing organisational systems, policies and procedures? Do you need assistance with navigating organisational growth and change management? I support organisations with all aspects of people management and organisational development. I can help ensure your organisation runs smoothly, effectively and is fit for purpose.
ADVOCACY AND CAMPAIGNS
Do you need help designing, managing or evaluating an advocacy or campaigning strategy? Do you need advice in how to improve your advocacy and campaigns so they resonate with your target audience and are effective in spreading awareness and/or promoting behaviour change? I support organisations with all aspects of advocacy and campaigning. I specialise in child rights and child protection advocacy, but I can provide support in other areas of international development too.
RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS
Do you need help carrying out a research project involving desk-based research (acadmeic and grey literature), interviews and focussed group discussions and/or other research methodologies? I have led on a wide variety research projects culminating in academic articles, discussion papers, guidelines and other publications. I specialise in child rights and child protection, but I can provide support in other areas of international development too.
